Intelligent systems for professional translation

We translate technical material using translation memory technology from SDL Trados, a computer-assisted translation (CAT) tool that is in regular use by many of our customers. SDL Trados brings speed and predictability to the translation process while helping ensure uniform use of terminology.

A translation memory (TM) is an intelligent database that stores all of the translations generated for specific customers and language pairs. As new texts are translated, the TM automatically searches through the database for matching or similar translations from earlier assignments. When matches or near-matches are found, the software presents these "fuzzy matches" as suggestions for the translator who can then choose to accept or adjust the existing translation. As new material is translated, the translations are automatically stored in the database, so the translation database continues to grow in value.

• Significant acceleration of the translation process because identical and similar texts do not have to be translated a second time.
• Translations become more constistent because previously stored segments are reused. Consistency of translations is particularly important when updating projects or working with others in a team.
• The customer saves tremendous amounts of money because existing translations are discounted. Your savings will increase as more material is stored in the translation memory.

We maintain the translation memories created for your company, but they are of course your property. We are happy to provide you with the translation memory databases in all language combinations anytime upon your request.
