The right way to communicate complex information
The technology behind software translation
Dialog fields, error messages, menus, and buttons are examples of software-related snippets that express information in a highly compacted form and must therefore be carefully integrated into the translation process. Software localization projects involve the translation of programs into a new target language as well as adaptation to a different culture. As such, they place very high demands on translation and project management, including:
We prefer specialized software localization tools such as SDL Passolo, which we use to edit your source files (like .exe. or .dll) directly. The software also lets us check and correct potential problems like length limitations, double hotkey assignments, variables, and many others.
SDL Passolo provides for seamless integration of translation memory technology to enable access to the customer's translation database. This helps ensure uniformity with other translated materials.
We provide binary localization. This means that the translation is not performed directly in the delicate source code. When the translation is complete, you receive the original files in the desired languages without having to individually compile the foreign language versions of the software. Furthermore, when the software is updated, any altered or new strings are automatically filtered out and translated. This will save you time and money!
By the way, we do not just localize software – we are an excellent choice for translating other types of material as well:
